C-SHOP supports NASA

Drs. Robert Schlegel, Randa Shehab, and Kirby Gilliland began their NASA research collaboration in 1992 with a ground-based validation of a group of cognitive performance assessment tasks that comprise the NASA Performance Assessment Workstation (PAWS). The NASA PAWS was later flown on two missions aboard the space shuttle Columbia, and was also used to assess performance during an extended bed rest study.

C-SHOP is actively engaged in research and development activities in collaboration with NASA's Space Human Factors Engineering element of the Human Systems Integration Program directed by Johnson Space Center. Activities are directed toward furthering the self-assessment of astronaut cognitive and sensorimotor state as it relates to crew performance.
